Officers rushed to reports of a stabbing shortly after 1:30 a.m. at 12th Avenue and Straight Street, where they found Alfred Edwards stabbed multiple times, according to Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale.

Edwards, 41, died hours later at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, police said. Authorities did not disclose a possible motive for the killing.

City police and Passaic County Prosecutor's Office detectives arrested the accused killer, 31-year-old Miguel Nesbeth, on the 100 block of Rosa Park Boulevard without incident, Speziale said. Nesbeth was also charged with weapons offenses.

Anyone with information on the killing was asked to call investigators at 973-321-1120.
