There were some Turkish attendees but majority of the attendees of the conference were Americans. In her short speech, the first speaker Ms. Sari told men that they have an important role to play in closing the unfair gap in the economic status of women and men in today’s world and made specific recommendation on how they can help to close this gap.
Main speaker of the conference Physics professor and Women’s Studies Center Director Prof Dr Yeşim Darıcı explained in detail the economic inequalities between women and men in today’s world by referencing to many studies on the subject. She presented a very grim picture on the current extend of the problem today but also expressed her optimism in the success of many ongoing promising activities in fixing the problem around the world.
In the last part of the conference, Prof Darıcı answered several questions from the attendees. Conference organizers Turkish Miami Consulate Burç Ceylan and Miami Dade College North Campus President Malou Harrison expressed their excitement in the success of the conference and agreed to work on new conferences in the future.
