A powerful line of thunderstorms hit New Jersey Tuesday and knocked over countless tress and poles, leaving thousands of residents without power.
Photos and videos from the storm quickly started to show up on social media outlets as residents were eager to show damage in their towns.
A car caught fire at a dealership in Clifton, trees fell and blocked roads in Sparta and Livingston and an NJ Transit rail line near Little Falls was blocked after a large limb fell on the tracks.
The Newton Police said the roof of a building was blown off and landed in a parking lot. Cars were crushed under huge tree branches in Lake Hiawatha and a tree fell on a home in Dumont. In Fanwood, a tree was ripped from the ground and toppled to the ground.
