Abbott, 64, had ordered trucks to undergo 'enhanced safety inspections' on April 6 to curb human trafficking and the flow of drugs across the Texas-Mexico border. The move was part of 'unprecedented actions' he vowed in response to the Biden administration announcement that next month it will end Title 42, a public health law that has limited asylum-seekers in the name of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
