Ahmaud Arbery's killers have denied racism played a part in the 2020 murder, after it was labeled a hate by jurors in a federal civil rights trial. The new development in the now more than two-year-old case - thought to be put to bed last year following two equally high-profile trials - came Friday in the form of appellate briefs filed by three men currently serving sentences for Arbery's murder. The trio - former Brunswick residents Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael, and William 'Roddie' Bryan Jr. - were arrested in May 2020 for their part in the young man's death, and later convicted largely due to video evidence showing the entirety of the February 2020 assault.
