Alex Murdaugh smiles as he's sworn in ahead of taking the stand

has been sworn ahead of taking the stand to deny murdering his wife and son - against the advice of his own defense attorneys.

The legal scion, 54, told the judge this morning: 'I'm going to testify, I want to testify,' following a night locked in talks with his lawyers who warned him against the legal Hail Mary.

In the latest twist in the Murdaugh saga, defense attorney Dick Harpootlian told the court they would first call another witness and 'if he continues to want to testify' then Alex will be called. The disbarred attorney was then summoned by the judge to be sworn in and confirmed he would be taking the stand.
