Middle-aged Americans are increasingly worried about runaway and economic turmoil eating into their pension pots and are cutting back on spending and even pushing back their retirement dates to put more aside.Researchers found that about four fifths of Americans aged 45 to 75 are concerned by , tumbling stock markets and a looming economic recession biting into their retirement savings.Many have watched their plans contract and are scrambling to salvage shrinking savings — 60 per cent of respondents have begun spending less on holidays, shopping and other items in recent months.
