Glaciers – slowly moving rivers of ice – are flowing faster in Antarctica during the summer, a new study shows. According to the authors, fast-flowing glaciers are 'feeding' ice shelf – a floating platform of ice roughly the size of Wales on the Antarctic Peninsula. Ice shelves are permanent floating sheets of ice that connect to the edge of a landmass – in this case, Antarctica.
