Up to one in five premature deaths are directly linked to ultra-processed foods, a first-of-its-kind study has found.Calorie-dense foods such as pizza, cakes and hot dogs are often packed with sugar, salt and fat - which raise the risk of obesity, heart disease and other chronic illnesses.Researchers in estimated that in 2019, the deaths of around 57,000 Brazilian people between the ages of 30 and 69 were attributable to highly processed snacks.
