New York City prosecutors today lowered the bond of a bodega worker Jose Alba after public outrage over their decision to charge him for stabbing a criminal who attacked him. Alba was last week arrested for stabbing Austin Simon, a 35-year-old who charged into the Harlem bodega where he worked and attacked him. The row began when Simon's girlfriend's card was declined trying to buy a bag of chips. Alba, a 62-year-old father, refused to give her the chips. Simon charged in, wearing a $350 Amiri t-shirt, and fought him.
