Five restauranteurs in section have launched addendum to their lawsuit against the city's Democratic mayor alleging that she's biased against Italians and white people. The original lawsuit, filed in the fall of 2022, centered around Mayor Michelle Wu's decree that restaurants in the neighborhood were forced to pay $7,500 in order to be able to obtain an outdoor dining license for the 2022 summer season while it was free in the rest of Boston. The mayor's office said that in the North End, on-street dining will no longer be allowed and sidewalk dining will be limited to establishments with 'adequate' sidewalk width.
