Several Southern hospitals have begun using overflow tents outside emergency rooms to cope with a rising number of patients with flu and other respiratory illness.Tents were put up at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health in Jolla and Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa.The move comes amid a rise in flu symptoms in emergency room patients in San Diego County. The dominant strain, H3N2, appears to lead to more severe illnesses than usual.
