Calls for an investigation into heart stent procedures have ramped up in Australia as data from a US study shows their medical system overuses the tool with little success. The study, 'Data from Avoiding Overuse: Coronary Stents' by independent thinktank the Lown Institute, analysed more than one million stent operations from 2019 to 202It showed that one-fifth of stent procedures were found to be unnecessary, costing patients over $US1.28 billion ($2 billion).
