A Canadian court ordered a group of trucker protestors off of a border bridge between Ontario and Michigan Friday, giving the blockade until 7 p.m. to disperse. The so-called “Freedom Convoy” has been blocking traffic from the bridge for five days in protest of COVID-19 mandates, forcing plant closures and work stoppages in Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, because materials can’t get across the border.Chief Justice Geoffrey Morawetz of the Ontario Superior Court gave the order following a four-and-a-half hour hearing, Friday, at which attorneys for the city of Windsor and auto parts manufacturers argued the protest was causing undue economic harm.
