As cats were domesticated 10,000 years ago, their brains got smaller, according to a new study that backs up similar findings in dogs, rabbits and humans. A combined team of researchers from the University of Vienna in Austria, and National Museums Scotland, compared cranial capacity in multiple types of cats. They found that modern domestic cats have smaller brains than both European and African wildcats, and hybrids of domestic cats and European wildcats have brains that are between those of the two parent species.
