Thousands of passengers have been left stranded at Charleston International Airport after the local sheriff's helicopter crashed nearby. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the Bell 407 aircraft crashed into the busy South Carolina airport at around 3.30pm local time on Tuesday, causing immediate delays to at least 44 flights. Charleston County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) said the pilot was the only person on board the chopper.
