The have announced the passing of principal owner Halas McCaskey at age 102.The daughter of team founder and former coach, George Halas, inherited the team upon his death in 1983 and was the NFL's longest-tenured owner. The team has remained in the family since the Halas acquired the Decatur Staleys and moved the team to Chicago in 1921, renaming the club the following year.The team was originally supposed to go to her younger brother George Halas Jr., but he died of a heart attack in 1979, and the club ultimately went to McCaskey.
