Congress has ditched its mask mandate ahead of President 's State of the Union address, a move officials say is response to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issuing new guidelines last week. The Office of the Attending Physician announced the policy change Sunday, noting 'individuals may choose to mask at any time, but it is no longer a requirement'. The move comes just a day before Washington's mask mandate expires on Monday, and as a host of states and local governments have begun implementing the new guidelines and lifting mask-mandates indoors and in schools.
