An investigation into a young couple who unknowingly confessed several wildlife crimes to officers while in casual conversation on a flight has come to an end with guilty pleas.
Two plainclothes officers with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife were on a flight in 2023 when they sat in front of 28-year-old Shannon Lee Price and 24-year-old Byron Lee Fitzpatrick, a young couple who happened to be discussing hunting.
A casual conversation while the air ultimately led to the couple snitching on themselves, admitting that along with a close family member, they were the owners of numerous stuffed endangered species.
