Ed Sheeran today said he paid out five million dollars to two songwriters after they accused him of breaching their copyright over his hit song Photograph because he 'trusted his lawyers' - as he denied being a 'magpie' who ripped off Shape Of You from a little-known grime artist. The pop star, 31, has rejected claims by songwriting duo Sami Chokri and Ross O'Donoghue that he copied parts of one of their tracks for his 2017 hit.Their lawyer, Andrew Sutcliffe QC, has suggested Mr Sheeran regularly borrows other artists' ideas - and today asked him about his previous settlement of a claim in the United States over Photograph, which was released in 2015.
