President Biden's now-disgraced outgoing top science adviser Eric Lander held stocks in BioNTech as we was peddling the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in his official role, financial disclosure documents show. Upon taking his role as head of the Office of Science and Technology Policy on May 28, Lander sold off much of his stock in other pharmaceutical companies in June but held on to some of his stock in BioNTech SE, the German biotechnology company and 's vaccine partner. Lander did not sell $500,000 to $1 million worth of the stock well after he'd begun publicly encouraging Americans to get vaccinated against Covid-19. The sale occurred 69 days after his confirmation, though legally Lander had until 90 days into the new job to dump the shares.
