A liberal news website fell for a fake statement from former President Trump that appeared to condemn the seizure and subsequent death of an Instagram-famous squirrel named Peanut. The site was duped after a bizarre bogus press release adorned with the Trump campaign's logo was posted on X. The language appeared similar in tone to that used by Trump during his campaign perhaps making it all too easy for someone to mistakenly believe the words to be true.
