A former intelligence official who signed onto the infamous letter claiming 's laptop had the markings of Russian disinformation now says a 'significant portion' of the documents found 'had to be real.' Still, Douglas Wise, a former Defense Intelligence Agency deputy director, told he did not regret signing on to the October 2020 letter of 51 former intelligence officials doubting the authenticity of the laptop. Wise explained: 'All of us figured that a significant portion of that content had to be real to make any Russian disinformation credible.'
