A dormant black hole at least nine times the mass of the Sun has been discovered just 160,000 light years from Earth, orbiting a star.A team of researchers – known as the 'black hole police' because they have debunked so many black hole discoveries – searched nearly 1,000 stars of the Tarantula Nebula in the constellation Dorado before locating it. They claim this is the first dormant 'stellar-mass' black hole to have been detected outside of the Milky Way galaxy.
