The Ford Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ford Motor Company, has announced that it is shutting down it's racial equity fellowship program that is designed to create opportunities for minorities in academic leadership positions, in a new statement. The foundation said that it is moving money into 'movement-building work,' but did not provide specifics. The organization's president, Darren Walker, said in a statement on September 16 that the charity had come to the decision to shut down the Ford Fellowships at the National Academies program by 2028.
