The FDA failed parents by not warning them there would be baby-formula shortages as soon as it shuttered the main US manufacturer, one of the agency’s top former officials told The Post on Friday.“They knew that this shortage situation was going to happen,” ex-Associate Commissioner Peter Pitts said of the now-nationwide crisis.“They should have educated parents, given them advanced warning, let them know how to prepare. The result was that one day parents go to the store and the shelves are empty – and they panic.”
