Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency as clean up in Fort Lauderdale begins following devastating storms that caused mass flooding, including at the local airport which was forced to cancel flights. The storms dumped two feet of rain in a matter of hours and left travelers stranded through at least 5am Friday and residents calling for help. DeSantis' comes 24 hours after Fort Lauderdale officials issued a similar declaration as flooding persisted in parts of the city.
