Fyre Festival fraudster Billy McFarland choked up as he issued an emotional mea culpa over the sensational con - which saw him scamming investors out of $26 million - admitting that he was 'incredibly stupid' and insisting that it was his 'insecurity', not his desire for wealth and fame, that led him 'down a path of bad decisions'. The 30-year-old - who was convicted of fraud in 2018 and sentenced to six years in prison - put on a tearful display as he sat down with Good Morning America's Michael Strahan on Friday morning in his first TV interview since his release from jail in March. When grilled by Strahan about why he didn't cancel the fated festival as soon as he realized that it was going to be an impossible feat to pull off, McFarland confessed that he was so desperate to 'prove himself' to his employees and investors that he refused to listen to sense.
