One of the nation's top generals said goodbye on Friday as he retires from military life, following a turbulent final year as head of Central Command overseeing the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.Gen. Frank McKenzie said he was proud of the way that American troops evacuated 124,000 people from Kabul but will be forever haunted by the suicide attack that killed 13 U.S. service personnel and more than 100 Afghans.In his final briefing with journalists, he also described what he believed to be the most dangerous threats to American interests in the Middle East.
