Could your prescription pills affect the outcome of dental implant surgery? It’s a problem highlighted by a recent study from dentists in .They found that people who were taking antidepressants — specifically, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) — at the time of their surgery, and for at least one year beforehand, had a more than 4.5-fold increased risk of their implants failing.The 170 patients in the study were taking some of the most commonly prescribed SSRIs in the UK, such as citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline.
