Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had to be airlifted on Thursday to the country's main international airport after cars and protesters blocked off roads to prevent him from leaving the country. Protesters used their vehicles to obstruct roads surrounding Ben Gurion airport, where Netanyahu was due to fly to Rome. The demonstrations were part of nationwide protests underway for more than two months against the government and its controversial plan to overhaul the judiciary. Critics of the legislation, which is already being processed through parliament, say it will politicise the judiciary and lead to an authoritarian government.
