The James Webb Space Telescope has released its first images of - providing a unique and more detailed look at the Red Planet's atmosphere.The giant telescope, which sits almost a million miles away from Earth, is giving scientists and the public a glimpse of Mars' observable disk - that is, the part of the planet's sunlit side facing it. Webb’s first pictures of Mars were captured by its Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam). They depict a region of the planet’s eastern hemisphere at two different wavelengths, or colors of infrared light.
