The federal judge who freed Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter after he was convicted of triple murder has died at the age of 94. H. Lee Sarokin died in Jolla, on Tuesday where he lived with his wife Margie in retirement. His son Jeff Sarokin said the cause of death was pulmonary fibrosis.The judge gained notoriety in 1985 when he threw out the convictions of boxer Carter and John Artis, two Black men who were wrongly sentenced to prison for killing three white men.
