A judge has rejected a plea deal for Travis McMichael federal hate charges after he admitted for the first time that he chased down Ahmaud Arbery because he was black. On Monday, McMichael changed his plea at a hearing in the U.S. District Court in Brunswick, , after reaching a plea deal with federal prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to using a gun in his attempt to apprehend Arbery because of his 'race and color,' resulting in Arbery's death.But in a ruling this afternoon, the judge rejected the terms of the deal after pleas from Arbery's mother and other family members to reject the deal.
