A county sheriff's deputy, who allowed a suspect to take a smoke break during an interrogation, was fatally shot when the gunman pulled out a hidden weapon and opened fire.Veteran Kentucky State police officer and Calloway County Chief Deputy Jody Cash, 44, was gunned down by Gary Rowland, 30, on May 16 outside the Marshall County Sheriff's headquarters after the two stepped outside.Rowland, of Murray, Kentucky, had been arrested on outstanding warrants and was being interrogated in the Marshall County Sheriff's department by Deputy Donald Bowman and Cash an unrelated investigation, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.
