Mexican rescue dog dies while searching for survivors in Turkey

A brave Mexican rescue dog has died while searching through rubble for survivors in Turkey.

Proteo had been dispatched to Turkey as part of a huge international mission in the wake of the devastating earthquake that has so far claimed more than 35,000 lives.

The Mexican Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Sunday, February 12: 'Thank you Proteo for your heroic work, you fulfilled the Mexican Army's mission.'
