By far the most dramatic flip was in District 17 in Hudson Valley where moderate Republican Michael Lawler beat Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney in one of the nation's most high-profile upsets.Maloney, the chair of the House ' campaign arm, conceded after the election was called for challenger Mike Lawler. 'I don't like to lose, but my opponent won this race. He won it fair and square,' Maloney said.
