America's first patient this year had 'smallpox-like' fluid-filled blisters erupting on his scalp, palms and soles of his feet, doctors say.The man — who has not been named — was admitted to General Hospital on May 12 with a fever and rash after antibiotics failed to stave off his illness.Doctors initially believed the patient had chickenpox, a sexually transmitted disease like herpes or even an allergic reaction. But skin and blood tests for these illnesses in the hospital's specialist lab repeatedly came back negative.
