More than half of Americans disagree with plans by the Biden administration to lift a Trump-era immigration regulation that allows migrants to be turned away directly at the southern border and prevented from seeking asylum in the United States, a new poll found. The survey from CNN-SSRS found 57% of respondents opposed to lifting Title 42, while just 43% of those interviewed said it was time to return to pre-pandemic immigration protocols. The Biden administration announced last month plans to end the policy on May 23, a decision which has faced severe opposition from Republicans.
