Mystery as millionaire pays over $750k to his wife's 'kidnappers'

The Brazilian police is probing whether a millionaire's wife may have plotted her own kidnapping with her alleged lover after he paid more than $750,000 for her freedom.

Anic Herdy, 54, whose 78-year-old husband Benjamin Herdy is the heir to a sprawling estate, was last seen February 29 when she visited a mall in Petropolis, near Rio.

She reportedly sent her two children a text message on March 13 indicating she was leaving the country to start a new life with her lover, according to CBN Radio.
