A nor'easter storm is expected to drop up to 2 inches of wind-swept rain and cause possible coastal flooding for New Jersey starting Friday night and into Saturday, putting a damper on the Halloween weekend forecast. There is some forecast uncertainty on when the rain will arrive in the state, but there's general consensus that the worst of the conditions could be from midnight to noon Saturday, the National Weather Service says. There are wind advisories as well as coastal flood watches and warnings in effect for much of eastern New Jersey Friday night and Saturday. Coastal areas of Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties could be lashed by steady winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts as high as 50 mph.The winds might snap tree limbs and bring down power lines, the weather service said. A wind advisory is in place in those counties from 3 a.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Saturday.
