The first of two snowstorms likely to hit New Jersey this week could drop as much as 4 inches of snow Thursday night into Friday in the northern half of the state before what forecasters say could be a major storm through the weekend. The National Weather Service is now calling the second storm "significant" and "probable." It is likely to include some combination of snow, sleet, ice and rain late Saturday and throughout Sunday for New Jersey, the weather service said in its Tuesday morning update. No snowfall total estimates have been issued by the weather service for the weekend storm yet.
