New experimental pill could prevent 'death sentence' form of cancer

A vitamin pill-sized device could revolutionize the battle against a deadly throat by diagnosing patients before they develop the disease.

Patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer have just a 50 percent chance of survival even when the cancer is spotted at stage one, dropping to just six percent if it is caught at later stages.

But the cancer — which has nearly doubled among middle-aged adults over the last five years — has been linked to a type ofthat begins years in advance.
