Just hours before Russian President Vladimir signed treaties to illegally annex Ukrainian territory, the Russian Consulate in was vandalized with red spray paint. Officers with the New York Police Department responded to a call about vandalism around 1:30 a.m. Friday at the building, located on East 91st Street. The paint covers the the façade of the building, including the bars on the windows, parts of the awning, the entry doors to the Russian Consulate and plants outside of the building.
