Energy bills for New Yorkers have skyrocketed in the last three years, but the pain in the wallet won't be stopping any time soon due in part to a bill heralded by state .Con Edison proposed a rate hike in late January that will make the average resident shell out $158 more per month for their gas and electric than they did in 2022, based on data from the company.The investor-owned public utility firm, which provides power to all five boroughs and Westchester County, is asking the Public Service Commission to approve double-digit rate increases.
