Despite the sudden and tragic death of hockey player Adam Johnson in England, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says that any player mandate for protective neck equipment could take a while to institute.Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, Bettman was asked to comment on the use of neck protection in the league - but seemed to suggest that the power was out of his hands.Bettman says that instituting this protection has been discussed, but any permanent mandate would have to be left up to the progress of time - despite the death of the 29-year-old native at a rink in Sheffield, England just a few days ago.
