NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell - the first woman to take up the position - has quit her job after being in the role for just a year and a half.Her resignation on Monday comes after claims circulated that she was 'powerless' under Mayor Eric Adams. Sewell, 51, told the force in her resignation letter that she had faced 'tremendous tragedy and challenges' in the past 18 months. Mayor Adams is said to be 'blindsided' by her decision.
