A New York police union has slammed Mayor Eric Adams' decision to do away with vaccine mandates for athletes and performers and not private workers effective immediately, arguing that the city is operating with a double standard.'If the mandate isn't necessary for famous people, then it's not necessary for the cops who are protecting our city in the middle of a crisis,' Police Benevolent Association (PBA) boss Patrick Lynch said Thursday, in a statement that chided Adams, 61, for plans announced earlier that day.Adams' nixing of the mandate for sports stars will allow unvaccinated Brooklyn Nets star Kryie Irving to once again play at home games at the Barclay Center, and will alleviate concerns surrounding unvaccinated New York baseball players' eligibility to take the field when their season starts next month.
