Forget the winter woollies – actress Eleanor Tomlinson braved London’s sub-zero temperatures in nothing but a little black dress and slingbacks last week. The Poldark star even managed to crack a smile, despite the very limited protection offered by her flimsy frock and black stilettos. But the 30-year-old’s fashion choices were not her own, as she was filming scenes for her latest project, the adaptation of David Nicholls’s bestselling novel One Day. Since the action takes place in summer – catching up with its characters every July 15 over 20 years – she could hardly wear a hat and scarf to combat the -3C (27F) conditions. In the new series, Ms Tomlinson, who played Demelza opposite Aidan Turner’s Ross Poldark in the BBC1 period drama, will portray a seductive love cheat.
