Police officer found dead inside his home with gunshot wound

An off-duty police detective from Chicago has been found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in his home.

The 59-year-old man was found dead about midday on Friday inside the house on the 3900 block of West 104th Street in Mount Greenwood, .

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office was yet to perform an autopsy to confirm the cause of death, and had not released his name.
